Lakeland rowing club

In 2006 some of those interested in bringing rowing to the Lake District – the place with all that water and no Boat Clubs – met to set up rowing in the Lake District. Since that meeting much progress has been made.

The club is now affiliated to the ARA and has elected its committee: the Lakeland Rowing Club aims to provide the normal activities of a rowing club. From small beginnings the club hopes to grow to incorporate all levels of rowing from school, juniors, seniors and vets, and bring recreational and competitive rowing to the Lake District, and to offer racing events and a location for training camps and holiday rowing. As well as local membership, a ‘city membership’ is offered for those wishing to visit the area and boat from the club. The club plans to run both racing and touring boats.
