SPRING!!! Time to get on the water
Hello all members - and those expressing interest - with apologies, just in case, to those you may not be interested.
I’d like to canvas members to row / take part in sundry activities (like making boat racking, cleaning boats, tidying-up, picnicking?) over the next week-ends up to Easter -Â
Â
March 21/22 - at Cunsey
either or both days, Sat. afternoon at 2pm / Â Sunday at 10am or 2pm - let me know (email) if you will come / when - or when would be better for you.
Isn’t it time we got over the winter blues and got on the water?
Â
March 28/29 -
either or both days, Sat. afternoon at 2pm / Â Sunday at 10am or 2pm - let me know (email) if you will come / when - or when would be better for you.Â
SPECIAL TREAT: Â the Oxford City Barge rowing club are making a visit to Windermere over the week-end. Â They will be rowing a shallot (6 oarsmen + several passengers) and 2 Venetian sandalos - the CB would love us to take part with them, to row in the shallot / row our boats with them, even try Venetian rowing! Â They will be having a dinner on Saturday evening at the Beech Hill Hotel and invite any LRC members to join them.
Please let me know if you can join in / when (roughly) you can come / if you’d be interested in the dinner.  A great opportunity  to get some activities for LRC members - and a bit of publicity for the Club!
Â
April 4/5 -
either or both days, Sat. afternoon at 2pm / Â Sunday at 10am or 2pm - let me know (email) if you will come / when - or when would be better for you.Â

AGM - 27th January 2009
Thanks to all those who attended the AGM at the Skiddaw Hotel in Keswick.
Many plans were discussed including those for boat accommodation at both sites and events to get out on the water on Windermere and Bassenthwaite. The club has received donations of equipment from other clubs which, together with 2 new IV/4x+ from Germany, mean we have the means to get bodies on the water!
Provisional dates were set to have events on the 19th and 26th April. Check back for more details.
Summer Outings on Bassenthwaite
Regular water sessions taking place on Bassenthwaite are taking place on Wednesday evenings. Meet about 7:00 at Peel Wyke with boats etc. See the gallery page for evidence of the glorious summer weather experienced so far…
Boat Launch and AGM
The weekend of 5/6th April sees the much waited for event of getting on the water. Come along and join in at the Cunsey Mill site.
This will be followed on the 6th by the club’s AGM, provisionally at 6pm at the Bridge Cafe, Newby Bridge. Come and meet the existing club members, find out what progress has been made in the past year and what plans are afoot for the future. It would be good to see you all there and put faces to email addresses!
Working Days
The weekend of the 29th / 30th MARCH (NB not April as emailed) will see some work being done at the Cunsey Mill site on Windermere. Willing volunteers needed to do whatever is required. As you can see from the pictures in the Gallery section there will be no shortage of things to do. This will be a great opportunity to meet other club members too and it will likely finish with a social.
Watch this space for more details.
Equipment Grant Received
Lakeland RC is delighted to annouce that it has secured grant aid, obtained from the ARA CCDP Portfolio towards the purchase of 2 new coxed fours / quads complete with sculls to power them with. Work has gone into this through the winter and has paid off with the boats already ordered and due for delivery in 2 or 3 months time. Thanks to those who have put work into this.
